I’m not exaggerating when I say that every Hollerado show I go to is a little different than the last. I’ve known bands to recycle acts, things they say, set lists. These guys do something different every time; whether it be equipping MTV audiences with bags of confetti, or buying the crowd shots after a show, you can pretty much guarantee that you won’t see exactly the same thing twice. I was lucky enough to catch the last date of their February Residency at Divan Orange, in Montreal, where they held a makeshift auction in support of Haiti relief efforts. Earlier in the day, the band explained that they had been in a moderately impressive car accident, but despite that, they still put on a hell of a show.

We didn’t spend much time at Nuit Blanche while in Montreal this past weekend, but we did get to see some awesome fireworks, a pretty sweet giant slide and this really cool ferris wheel that Rachel and Kaci wouldn’t let me go on because they thought it was “dangerous”. Because the seats swung. To which I argued … if they don’t move, how exactly is one supposed to avoid going upside down when the wheel starts to turn? (Love you guys! Line was too long anyway!)
Either way, left the DSLR at home for this run, but there’s at least 2 shots!

I don’t think this portrays exactly how much glitter was actually in the sky. There was a lot.
I heard about Huron a few months back and never really got a chance to check them out. This past weekend, we found ourselves in Montreal and managed to catch them as part of Hollerado’s February residency at Divan Orange. It’s really unfortunate that they played to a half empty, disinterested bar, but for the handful of us who were up front and paying attention, they were actually really good. I shouldn’t be surprised, they come highly recommended. They play as part of CMW this year, and then again with Cuff the Duke later this month so I feel like I’ll be seeing a lot more of them.
And of course… photos.

Hollerado photos up soon!
